At one point after he was asked the question, I thought the feed cut out because he just didn’t talk or move.

The only reason I knew he was actually still there was because he blinked a few times. Look, he got caught and was asked a STICKY question, but trust me, there’s a lot of pitchers doing this stuff now and have for decades. As a Yankees fan, I found it funny how Cole danced around the answer like a Tango and at the end of the day came out looking guiltier than the sun is hot.
