NFL Fantasy Rundown: Week 5

Have no clue who to pick up in the waiver wire in your fantasy league? Wonder no more, The Flag Post has got you covered. Week 3 of the new season is in the books and you’ve either had a monster week or you’ve started to panic over your lineup. Guess what? It’s still early and there’s tons of good options out there, let’s get to it!

Must Pick Up

Gardner Minshew II-NO-Own % 13.7

Jacoby Brissett-IND-Own % 31.2

Daniel Jones-NYG-Own % 64.3

The Spin:

Minshew mania is real and just gaining steam, Minshew recorded another solid fantasy outing Sunday vs. the Broncos and must be considered a must start at this point. Jacoby Brissett is having many people forget that Andrew Luck left this team high and dry, although he came off a loss, Brissett pulled in monster numbers again for fantasy owners. Danny Dimes is slowly becoming a strong presence in the fantasy game with his solid numbers.

Running Back

Jordan Howard-PHI-Own % 56.0

Devin Singletary-BUF-Own % 80.6

Ronald Jones II-TB-Own % 41.4

The Spin:

Jordan Howard looked unstoppable against a strong Packers defense, until proven otherwise, Howard is a must start. Although Singletary has been out of action for the last two weeks, you gotta expect him to be a big part of the offense once inserted back in the lineup, one thing to monitor is the use of TJ Yeldon. The Bucs put up big numbers against the Rams Sunday and Ronald Jones had a monster game on the ground, roll with this suddenly hot offense.

Wide Receiver

Geronimo Allison-GB-Own % 27.2

DJ Chark-JAX-% 64.0

Phillip Dorsett-NE-Own % 5.2

The Spin:

With Adams looking like he may lose time with a toe injury look for an increase in business with Rodgers and Allison. Along with the Minshew mania comes his favorite target, DJ Chark, you should consider Chark a must start either in WR2 or FLEX while Minshew mania is in effect. The Patriots had a rare down week on offense but Dorsett should get a ton of looks when they roll into Washington for week 5.

Tight End

Will Dissly-SEA % 64.0

Ricky Seals-Jones-CLE-Own % 0.1

TJ Hockenson-WAS-Own % 67.4

The Spin:

Dissly has now had 3 straight double digit games and should be considered a must start at the TE start. Baker and the Browns woke up and dropped a 40 spot, including a dime to TE Ricky Seals-Jones, with Njoku out, look for more from Seals-Jones. TJ Hockenson rewarded his loyal owners with a double digit game including an early game dime.

Philadelphia Eagles-Own % 42.0

Minnesota Vikings-Own % 90.4

Tennessee Titans-Own % 49.1

The Spin:

The Eagles are playing a Jets team with a very questionable situation at QB, be guided accordingly. The Vikings are playing a Giants team that can be corralled by taking out new weapon, Daniel Jones. The Titans defense has been a bright spot for the team this year and look to continue the success against the Bills who may be without starting QB Josh Allen.

Eddy Pineiro-CHI-Own % 3.5

Josh Lambo-JAX-Own % 5.5

Joel Slye-CAR-Own % 33.9

The Spin:

if you are really confused about picking up a kicker, I beg you to ask a fellow fantasy player for god damn help!

Must Drops

Kirk Cousins-MIN-Own % 29.7

Josh Allen-BUF-Own % 68.8

Josh Rosen-MIA-Own % 1.0

The Spin:

Kirk Cousins has been absolute garbage this year, his team is getting frustrated and for the all the guaranteed money he is making, he will get more of a leash but how long it will last is a question. Josh Allen left last weeks game with a likely concussion so his status should be monitored, the fantasy numbers have not been great as is. If you have Josh Rosen on your team, my sympathies to you and your season.

Running Back

Alexander Mattinson-MIN-Own % 16.0

Nyheim Hines-IND-Own % 38.8

Kalen Ballage-MIA-Own % 13.7

The Spin:

Dalvin Cook has been a bright spot for the Vikings offense which means Mattinson will likely not see any significant playing time. Almost sane situation for Hines, Marlon Mack has been solid and Hines should not expect any significant time barring an injury. The Dolphins anemic offense is not without fault on the running end, Kenyan Drake can do so much and his backup, Ballage is no different.

Wide Receiver

Kenny Stills-HOU-Own % 21.5

Robby Anderson-NYJ-Own % 73.5

Adam Humphries-TEN-Own % 21.3

The Spin:

Kenny Still demanded a trade out of Miami but has not had a meaningful game as of yet. Until the QB situation for the Jets is resolved, don’t expect deep threat Anderson to rack up any significant fantasy points. Humphries, who had a breakout year last year for Tampa has had a hard time translating that to success for the Titans.

Tight End

Kyle Rudolph-MIN-Own % 27.9

Trey Burton-CHI-Own % 38.2

Jared Cook-NO-Own % 79.4

The Spin:

Until and if Cousins ever wakes up, don’t look for relief from Rudolph. Big Mitch being out for a few weeks at least and Chase Daniels In, brings uncertainty as to who will pick up touches, if you can stash, do so but do not start. Jared Cook was an offensive force for Oakland last year but with the injury to Drew Brees, Teddy TD’s has not looked his way consistently.

Houston Texans-Own % 34.2

New York Jets-Own % 8.5

Denver Broncos-Own % 25.5

The Spin:

The Texans are playing a pretty good offensive team in the Falcons. The Jets, although their defense being a bright spot, you can’t expect defensive scores every week, proceed with caution. The Broncos at 0-4 and losing big man Chubb today, don’t expect things to improve any time soon.

Matt Bryant-ATL-Own % 46.0

Aldrick Rosas-NYG-Own % 14.9

Adam Vinatieri-IND-Own % 22.5

The Spin:

Guys! It’s kickers, cmon!

Check back next week for an in depth look at the must pick/ drop list and good luck this week!
