The NFL season is quickly approaching and The Flag Post has got you covered. We will rank the top 5 players at every position for the upcoming season. Check back every Tuesday morning during the season as we will update the top 3 fantasy pickups in each position as well as our weekly NFL picke em Podcast every Thursday during the season.
QB
1) Pat Mahomes-KC*
2)Tom Brady-NE
3) Aaron Rodgers-GB
4) Russell Wilson-SEA
5) Drew Brees
Preview:
You can’t expect Pat Mahomes to put up the historic numbers he put up last year but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he will be very close and right there in the MVP discussion again.
Honorable Mention:
Baker Mayfield, if the Browns offensive starters stay healthy could find himself as a top 5 QB for the year, the key will be OBJ.
RB
1)Saquon Barkley-NYG
2) Alvin Kamara-NO
3) Christian McCaffrey-CAR*
4) Todd Gurley-LAR
5) Le’Veon Bell-NYJ
Preview:
This could be the year where Christian McCaffrey jumps into elite status in the NFL, had it not been for a scratch in last years finale, McCaffrey would e finished as the top RB in fantasy, a lot of his success will be contingent on the banged up Cam Newton.
Honorable Mention:
Melvin Gordon, unlike Ezekiel Elliott I believe will be back sooner than later in the holdout game as the Chargers GM made it clear, no contract extensions will be discussed until the off season.
WR
1) Odell Beckham Jr-CLE
2) Deandre Hopkins-HOU
3) Davonte Adams-GB
4) Julio Jones-ATL
5) Tyreek Hill-KC*
Preview:
Despite the arrival of sure handed receiving back LeSean McCoy, the Chiefs will feel the difference of not having Kareem Hunt and with the focus clearly on Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, I expect Hull to rack up more yards this year around.
Honorable Mention:
Adam Thielen is a guy who could’ve easily made this list but the question mark will be, can Kirk Cousins rebound and become a viable fantasy QB? If the answer is yes, look for Thielen to be a major part of it.
TE
1) Travis Kelce-KC
2) Zach Ertz-PHI
3) George Kittle-SF*
4) O.J. Howard-TB
5) Eric Ebron-IND
Preview:
With QB Jimmy G back and healthy, expect a healthy dose of George Kittle in the offense. Building on his monster year last year, Kittle could jump to the Elite of the TE crop now that Gronk has retired.
DEF
1) Chicago Bears*
2) Los Angeles Rams
3) New England Patriots
4) Houston Texans
5) Cleveland Browns
Preview:
With the majority of the Bears defense coming back, the squad anchored by Khalil Mack is in line to be once again a dominant defensive side.
K
1) Greg Zuerlein-LAR
2) Justin Tucker-BAL
3) Wil Lutz-NO*
4) Harrison Butker-KC
5) Stephen Gostkowski-NE
Preview:
These are the top 5 in the league, they are guaranteed to get you anywhere from 8 points or more. After this group it gets dicey as the last two fantasy years have shown, TD’s are up and FG’s are down!
