NFL Fantasy Football: Week 17 Rundown

Have no clue who to pick up in the waiver wire in your fantasy league? Wonder no more, The Flag Post has got you covered. The playoffs are coming to an end and for some league winners were crowned, others, this is your week and these are the guys to get you there!

Must Pick Up

Quarterback

  1. Nick Mullens-SF-Own % 7.5
  2. Josh Allen-BUF-Own % 31.4
  3. Josh Johnson-WAS-Own % 1.1

The Spin:This is your last week in fantasy, look for one of these guys if your starter is out or unsure to play!

Running Back

  1. Damien Williams-KC-Own % 60.8
  1. Gus Edwards-BAL-Own % 70.0
  2. Elijah McGuire-NYJ-Own % 33.4

The Spin: Most RB1’s are a little dinged up right now, these three will fill that spot for the win!

Wide Receiver

  1. Curtis Samuel-CAR-Own %
  2. Robby Anderson-NYJ-% 18.0
  3. Dante Pettis-SF-Own % 37.2

The Spin:If I had to put money on one of these guys to get me the win, I would go with Anderson. He’s found the end zone in three straight games.

Tight End

1. Evan Engram-NYG-Own % 68.4

2. Ian Thomas-CAR-Own % 50.7

3. Cameron Brate-TB-Own % 70.0

The Spin: If I had to put money on one of these guys, I would go with Thomas. He has a score in 3 of his last 4 games.

Defense

1. Tennessee Titans-Own % 57.1

2. Minnesota Vikings-Own % 87.3

3. Denver Broncos-Own % 60.2

The Spin: The Titans have been one of the more steady fantasy defenses this year, shutting out the Giants in their last matchup, averaging 10 points in their last 3 games, makes them a must pickup. The Vikings defense has been gaining steam and with the Lions coming to town, they look to be a must pickup. The Broncos defense has also been another team that has been very solid this season, in their last 3 games, they have averaged 8 points.

Kicker

Ka’imi Fairbarn-HOU-Own % 80.8

Robbie Gould-SF-Own % 36.6

Daniel Carlson-OAK-Own % 1.4

The Spin: I am not even going to pretend that any of these kickers have been studs this year, I believe at some point or another that I have had them on my drop list. This year for the kickers in the NFL has been the most inconsistent I can ever remember. These three represents the top point getters in relations to availablility. If you have a kicker consistently getting you 6-10 points a game, consider him a god damn god!

Must Drops

Quarterback

1. Case Keenum-DEN-Own % 11.1

2. Marcus Mariota-TEN-Own % 16.4

3. Matthew Stafford-DET-Own % 43.0

The Spin: The Broncos might be making a playoff push but its definitely not because of the stellar QB play they are getting from Keenum. In Keenum’s last 3 games, he has averaged 15 points a game. Marcus Mariota has been a non factor in a team that will need a QB to make plays, Mariota has struggled and in his last 3 games, he has averaged 13 points a game. Upsetting and uncharacteristic is the play of Matthew Stafford, he has always been one of the top fantasy performers but this year, not so much. In his last 3 games, he has averaged 11 points a game.

Running Back

1. Royce Freeman-DEN-Own % 34.4

2. Duke Johnson Jr.-CLE-Own % 48.1

3. Nyheim Hines-IND-Own % 26.1

The Spin:  Royce Freeman has been a mainstay on this list, if you really need more reasons to not pick up Freeman, you probably should just give up in your league. Duke Johnson Jr has had a turbulent season ever since the trade of Carlos Hyde to the Jags, Nick Chubbs has been the main back and Johnson has struggled. In Johnson Jr’s last 3 games he has averaged 3 points a game. Nyheim Hines has had a couple good weeks this year but has struggled mightily, in his last 3 games he is averaging 9 points a game.

Wide Receiver

1. Mohamed Sanu-ATL-Own % 51.8

2. Demaryius Thomas-HOU-Own % 85.3

3. Taylor Gabriel-CHI-Own % 40.4

The Spin:   The Falcons offense has been very anemic this year, the only viable options have been Julio Jones and Tevin Coleman, Sanu has played below many expectations this year. In his last 3 games, Sanu is averaging 8 points a game. Thomas, who had a decent week this week against the Jets, has been slow to acclimate himself into the offense. In his last 3 games, he has averaged 8 points a game. Tyler Gabriel has been a non factor in Chicago, the offense isnt exactly firing on all cylinders as of yet and Gabriel is no exception. In Gabriel’s last 3 games he has averaged 6 points a game.

Tight End

1. Benjamin Watson-NO-Own % 28.6

2. Ricky Seals-Jones-ARI-Own % 10.9

3. C.J. Uzomah-CIN-Own % 29.0

The Spin:  Generally this is the point where I would point out how badly each player has played in the last X amount of games. This is also the point where I would say that there are better options out there. This is the new point where I say that each of these three tight end’s are absolute garbage in fantasy, if you pick any of these three players it may be for the following reason. Reason number one, you are in a league with more than 10 teams and your only good tight end has been hit by a truck and is considered dead! Reason number two, you are a complete moron and you have no clue how to play fantasy football, see your way out! Reason number three, there is a sadist in your league horting all the good tight ends and you are stuck with the misery that is this group of players, in any case, may god have mercy on your soul!

Defense

1. Dallas Cowboys-Own % 36.6

2. Los Angeles Chargers-Own % 72.1

3. Pittsburgh Steelers-Own % 47.3

The Spin:  The Cowboys offense has woken up in the second half of the season but the defense has struggled, in their last 3 games they are averaging 5 points a game. The LA Chargers have one of the better records in the league but you wouldnt tell by the way their defense has played, in their last 3 games, they are averaging 5 points a game. The Steelers are another team where their offense is thriving but on the defensive end, they have struggled. In the Steelers last 3 games, they are averaging 3 points a game.

Kicker

1. Chris Boswell-PIT-Own % 27.7

2. Cody Parkey-CHI-Own % 24.5

3. Stephen Gostkowski-NE-Own % 94.3

The Spin:I am not going to sugar coat it for you, there is no rhyme or reason to picking up kickers in fantasy, you go for the projections and these three have been in the bottom half all year and will not project to give you that edge, in fact if you see these names pop up on your opponents team this week, you can rest assured that you at least locked up ne position against them, that is of course unless you also picked a player from this list, Don’t pick a player from this list, dont do it!

We hope that this weekly series has helped you get to the championship and we will return next year for Fantasy Football 2019!
