This morning’s Premier League games prove that no game is a gimme, this time of year makes or breaks a team’s season and above all why this is the best league in the world!
Liverpool fans got a big Christmas gift and now sit pretty 4 points clear at the top of the league. They won their tie away at Wolves yesterday and second placed Manchester City surprisingly dropped 3 points in a 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
Andros Townsend scored a screamer of a volley from 30 yards to help his side to their first win at City for exactly 28 years, simultaneously ending the defending champions’ 100% home record in the Premier League this season at the same time.
Fourth placed Chelsea also lost at home, 1-0 to a 51st minute strike from Leicester City forward, Jamie Vardy. Their defeat means they are now level on points with Arsenal, London Neighbors Tottenham Hotspur can put some space between them and their two rivals if they win tomorrow at Everton. These guys must be pretty gutted!
Manchester United, under temporary boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer, beat Cardiff 5-1 away from home. Paul Pogba started the game and looked good. The players seem to have responded well to their new boss. England forward Jesse Lingard bagged himself a brace, too.
Here are the full set of results so far this weekend.
Wolves 0 – 2 Liverpool
Arsenal 3 – 1 Burnley
Chelsea 0 – 1 Leicester
Man City 2 – 3 Crystal Palace
Huddersfield 1 – 3 Southampton
West Ham 0 – 2 Watford
Newcastle 0 – 0 Fulham
Bournemouth 2 – 0 Brighton
Cardiff 1 – 5 Man Utd
Today’s games had it all. But what this guy is most excited by is that we only have to wait until Wednesday to wait until we can watch it all over again!
