NFL Fantasy Football:Week 14 Rundown

Have no clue who to pick up in the waiver wire in your fantasy league? Wonder no more, The Flag Post has got you covered. While some, their playoffs have already started, others they will beginning the quest for the championship this week. Either way, these are the guys you mush look to pick up or drop for you quest for the ship!:

Must Pick Up

Quarterback
  1. Baker Mayfield-CLE-Own % 47.0
  2. Jameis Winston-TB-Own % 62.8
  3. Josh Allen-BUF-Own % 3.6

The Spin: Baker Mayfield just may be the QB of the future but he is having a good finish to the end of the season, each week he seems to be improving. In his last three games, he is averaging 28 points a game. Jameis Winston looks to have solidified the starting QB job from Fitzmagic with his impressive play the last couple weeks, since he has taken over as starter, he has averaged 29 points a game. Josh Allen has steadily improved the last couple weeks, even though he took a L against the Dolphins, he had a good game with 34 points,  in his last two games, he is averaging nearly 32 points a game.

Running Back
  1. Gus Edwards-BAL-Own % 68.8
  2. Ty Montgomery-BAL-Own % 12.7
  3. Doug Martin-OAK-Own % 56.4

The Spin: Gus Edwards and Ty Montgomery have taken over the fantasy load in Baltimore, with Edwards averaging 10 points in his last two games and Montgomery averaging nearly 10 points in his last two, the Ravens look to these guys to push them in the playoffs. Doug Martin has been splitting time with the talented Jalen Richards but he has been slightly more explosive in his last two, averaging 14 points a game.

Wide Receiver
  1. Adam Humphries-TB-Own % 39.7
  2. Zay Jones-BUF-% 1.7
  3. Curtis Samuel-CAR-Own % 12.6
The Spin: Adam Humphries has emerged as the breakout receiver in Tampa, with the injury to Desean Jackson, he has had a good run, in his last three games, he is averaging 00 points a game. Zay Jones is becoming a favorite of emerging star Josh Allen, in his last two games, Jones has been averaging 23 points a game. Curtis Samuel is making an argument to become the lead back in Carolina, with the inconsistency of Devin Funchess and season ending injury to Greg Olsen, Samuel is making the most of it. In his last three games, he is averaging 14 points a game.
Tight End
  1. Anthony Firkser-TEN-Own % 0.0
  2. Ian Thomas-CAR-Own % 0.2
  3. Chris Herndon-NYJ-Own % 14.5

The Spin: With my Firkser point for tight end, Anthony Firkser is owened in 0 percent of the leagues, despite the stellar play in the last couple weeks. In that span he is averaging 00 points a game. Ian Thomas is the guy now in Carolina, with the injury to Greg Olsen that will sideline him for the rest of the season, Thomas will look to carry the load in tight end. In his last game for Carolina, he was able to rack up 9 points, expect the same going forward. Chris Herndon has been that one bright spot for the Jets this season, when QB Darnold is in the lineup he is a dynamic player, despite the horrid play last week against the Titans, Herndon is averaging 8 points in his last 4 games.

Defense

  1. New Orleans Saints-Own % 33.5
  2. Pittsburgh Steelers-Own % 58.7
  3. Detroit Lions-Own % 7.6

The Spin: Even in a loss the Saints defense was able to rack up 14 fantasy points, in their last four games, they are averaging over 13 points a game. The Steelers are playing the Raiders this week, I think I will stop right there with explanations. The Lions are playing the Cardinals this week, despite beating the Packers, the Lions are a much more solid defense and a must pick up.

Kicker

  1. Aldrick Rosas-NYG-Own % 6.4
  2. Graham Gano-CAR-Own % 49.9
  3. Jake Elliott-PHI-Own % 42.7

The Spin: I am not even going to pretend that any of these kickers have been studs this year, I believe at some point or another that I have had them on my drop list. This year for the kickers in the NFL has been the most inconsistent I can ever remember. These three represents the top point getters in relations to availablility. If you have a kicker consistently getting you 6-10 points a game, consider him a god damn god!

Must Drops

Quarterback
  1. Matthew Stafford-DET-Own % 54.1
  2. Derek Carr-OAK-Own % 10.5
  3. Marcus Mariota-TEN-Own % 19.4

The Spin: Matthew Stafford, who has been a very solid fantasy QB, has been inconsistent and despite playing the Cardinals this coming week, he just cannot be trusted to pick up those crucial points for you in the playoffs. Derek Carr had a good week against the pitiful Chiefs defense, sure the Chiefs can score but they have NO defense, stay away from Carr by any means necessary, this was just a blip on the radar. Marcus Mariota is a good game manager but he is not viable fantasy QB, stay away from the Nashville QB.

Running Back

  1. Carlos Hyde-JAX-Own % 58.4
  2. Sony Michel-NE-Own % 92.2
  3. Rashaad Penny-SEA-Own % 21.4

The Spin:  Hyde was gifted with a Fournette-less week and he was unable to put up any positive yardage against a stingy Jaguar defense, with Leonard Fournette returning and Yeldon clearly the backup, you can consider Hyde a roster hold at best, too risky to start right now. Sony Michel may have just been the victim of Rex Burkhead, with Burkhead’s return, you can expect the workload of Michel to decrease, between James White, Burkhead and now Michel, it will be a crapshoot to predict who will be getting the runs. You can expect White to continue to get looks but between Burkhead and Michel, its too risky. Rashaad Penny, who has been wildly inconsistent will more than likely be the backup to Carson going forward, with a playoff push, do not expect Penny to handle the load.

Wide Receiver

  1. Mohamed Sanu-ATL-Own % 53.3
  2. Kelvin Benjamin-BUF-Own % 16.8
  3. John Brown-BAL-Own % 53.7

The Spin:  The Falcons offense right now is pitiful, besides Julio Jones, there is not a single player you can count on to give you meaningful fantasy points, week in and week out. Until the offense is straightened out, you should stay away Sanu and any other receiver not name Julio Jones. Kelvin Benjamin is a bum, I am dubbing him the inaugural Flag Post, pick of the week to stay away from. John Brown looked like the guy in Baltimore to begin the season but he has cooled considerably. At the moment, there are no receivers in Baltimore that can be considered true fantasy options, John Brown is a must drop.

Tight End
  1. Kyle Rudolph-MIN-Own % 83.8
  2. Ricky Seals-Jones-ARI-Own % 16.5
  3. C.J. Uzomah-CIN-Own % 31.1

The Spin:  Kyle Rudolph has not had the year he has had in the past, in his last three games, he is averaging just 7 points a game. Ricky Seals-Jones plays for a terrible team, with a terrible QB, it would be a terrible idea to pick him up, stay AWAY! C. J. Uzomah, like I said last week has a cool name but that’s not the only thing that is cool about him. In his last three games, he has cooled to the tune of 8 points a game.

Defense

  1. Philadelphia Eagles-Own % 59.6
  2. Baltimore Ravens-Own % 79.6
  3. Miami Dolphins-Own % 29.7

The Spin:  The Philadelphia Eagles are not going to be the team they were last year, in fact, in their last three games, they are averaging 0 points a game. The Baltimore Ravens are playing the Kansas City Chiefs, although the Ravens have good defense, they will undoubtedly give up some points to the Chiefs, ok maybe more than a few. The Dolphins are playing the Patriots, in their last meeting the fins defense had negative points, expect the same in this upcoming game.

Kicker

  1. Matt Bryant-ATL-Own % 64.6
  2. Robbie Gould-SF-Own % 56.5
  3. Cody Parkey-CHI-Own % 32.3

The Spin:I am not going to sugar coat it for you, there is no rhyme or reason to picking up kickers in fantasy, you go for the projections and these three have been in the bottom half all year and will not project to give you that edge, in fact if you see these names pop up on your opponents team this week, you can rest assured that you at least locked up one position against them, that is of course unless you also picked a player from this list, Don’t pick a player from this list, dont do it!

Check back next week for an in depth look at the must pick/ drop list and good luck this week!
