Arsenal v. Chelsea Review

Tone

Arsenal dropped their second game of the season to our bitter rivals in London, Chelsea. Final score was 3-2 but the game was lost in the last 10 minutes when Arsenal’s defense gave up a goal to Marcos Alonso on the 81st minute. This is getting to be a very familiar scene at the Emirates, poor start to a season dropping optimism for the campaign. I’m not sold that this Arsenal team is in trouble in the first game of the season against Manchester City, they held City to a goal lead at half, despite very shaky offensive play and subpar midfield play from Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka. Much of the same in this game against Chelsea, although more goals were surrendered. I feel at this point Unai Emery must at least reward Lucas Torreira with a start, put some pressure on Xhaka to play better. Emery must also experiment with playing Aubameyang and Lacazzete in the starting XI and let Mkhitaryan be the playmaker alone without Ozil. Let’s see what this week brings us in training.
